About Sonrise Adult & Teen Challenge


Sonrise Adult & Teen Challenge is part of the Teen Challenge family, which includes more than 200 centers across the United States and over 1,500 centers worldwide. Teen Challenge was founded in 1958 in New York City by David Wilkerson, a pastor with a deep compassion for those trapped in sin and addiction. In 1988, Bill Everitt followed God’s call to bring that same message of hope and transformation to Oklahoma, founding Sonrise, the state’s first Teen Challenge center. Since then, Oklahoma Teen Challenge has grown to include six centers and a program within Lawton Correctional Facility.  With a remarkable 76% success rate of graduates who never return to addiction, Sonrise Adult & Teen Challenge stands apart from secular rehabs, which average only 8–20%. The reason is simple — true and lasting freedom is found only in Jesus Christ.  Graduates of Sonrise Adult & Teen Challenge have gone on to make a lasting impact both locally and around the world. Many have become pastors of churches across Oklahoma and the United States, missionaries serving internationally, and even established a Teen Challenge center in the rural Northwest, including a Regional Director in the Pacific Northwest. Thousands of other men have gone on to become productive members of society, working hard, raising families, and shining the light of Christ in their communities.
